Read & Raise-a-Thon

F.Ave's first annual Read & Raise-a-Thon is a fun and easy way for kids to raise funds for their school! The program encourages our children to excel at reading while raising funds to support the PTO in funding field trips, teacher grants, diversity & equity initiatives, social activities like picnics and movie nights, common area improvements, and free yearbooks (just to name a few)!

We hope students will enhance reading skills and develop new reading habits -- that they will sustain throughout the rest of the school year and beyond.

How It Works

1. Gather Reading Sponsors/Pledges (October 15th - October 25th)
Use the Sponsor Sheet (click here to download) to sign up family and friends to sponsor your child during Read A Thon! Have children talk to neighbors, have them call grandparents, and other relatives! Discuss what the Read-A-Thon is and its importance to our school, help them set a goal, and get ready to RAISE and READ! 

2. Read! Read! Read! (October 19th – October 24th) 
Encourage your child to read as much as they can! Read aloud to your child, take turns reading a book, have them read to you while cooking - any reading counts! Record all minutes your child has read outside of school in the Reading Log daily. Make sure to send the Reading Log back to school every morning with the logged minutes read for the day before. Your child must complete all reading by 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 24th for the final tally.

3. Collect all Money Raised (October 25th-November 4th)
Send the money to school in the special manila envelope provided along with the Reading Log. Please submit all cash and/or checks (payable to “F. AVE PTO”) along with your Sponsor Sheet.
