F.Ave's annual Read-A-Thon is a fun and easy way for students and families to raise funds for our school! The program encourages our kids to work on their reading skills while helping the PTO to support our teachers, staff and students through initiatives -- such as staff appreciation, diversity/equity & inclusion programming, community-building events and special projects -- that help make F.Ave a great place for learning and growing! 

How It Works

1. Gather Reading Sponsors/Pledges and get an early jump start on reading! (November 22 - 26)

Yes! We know this is a holiday week but we hope you will use this time to encourage your student/s to reach out to friends and family (especially those you may be visiting with during the break) to ask them to sponsor them in the Read-a-Thon. You can use the Sponsor Sheet  (click here to download) to sign up family and friends.

Next, help them set a goal, and get them reading! We know that there will be downtime with no school, so this is a great way to encourage them to pick up a book instead of electronics. Any minutes read over the break can be logged on the bookmark that will come home in backpacks on Friday, November 19th (or you can keep track of them in a calendar, phone, etc. if it gets misplaced) and will count towards minutes tallied on Monday, November 29th. 

2. Read! Read! Read! (November 22 - December 3) 
Reading begins on Monday, November 22 and continues through December 3! Any time spent reading counts! Read aloud to your child, encourage them curl up with a good book instead of grabbing the tablet, or have them read to you or to visiting relatives and friends. Record all minutes your child reads during Thanksgiving Break on the bookmark provided and then make sure to add those to the Reading Log (click here to download) that will be sent home on Monday, November 29. Keep recording any minutes spent reading outside of school the week of November 29 and send in the updated reading log each day. Don’t forget to send them to school with their fully completed log on FRIDAY, December 3rd for the final tally!

3. Collect all Money Raised (December 6 - 10)

Prefer to pay by Cash or Check? Payments can be dropped off at the F.Ave front desk. Please make checks payable to F.AVE PTO and write "Read-A-Thon" in the memo line.   All payments are due by Friday, December 10th.
